A friend of mine has just head back to Beijing to continue his Mandarin learning and another one is soon to follow this September so I only though it would be appropriate to share a photo from Beijing. Over the 5 intermittent months I was in Beijing I spent a fair amount just wondering the streets attempting to get lost in random Hutongs (that sounds a lot more loser-ish that it was)

The Hutongs of Beijing are the old town. It's where families have lived for generations, although there aren't many of these historic ones left. The Central Government is now trying to restore some of them as they have come to realise their touristic value.

Walking through one I found this old gentleman sitting on his own completely absorbed in whatever book he was reading - must be interesting. It looks rather peaceful and reminds me I should read more.

This photo goes along with one I shared earlier - Overwhelmed
